This guy is fighting Kovalev at 175 without a catchweight. My gut is telling me that Canelo wins, but logically it's a Kovalev pick. How the hell does Canelo get past Kovalev's jab and power? It's not like Kovalev's body is Khan's chin, and it's not like Canelo is Julian Jackson. If he wins this fight.. holy ****, he'd be so far ahead on the p4p list, Crawford would have to beat a GGG at 160, and Loma would have to beat a Spence at 147 to even be in the argument with Canelo.
Calling him Jesus Canelo now already? For all we know Kova nails him with a cross and spears him to the side to finish him off. And then we have to wait to next easter to see him rise again.
Uhhh no, Jesus in this instance is being used as an expression of shock like "Jesus" - - - *pause* - - - "Canelo has balls".
Canelo continues to dare to be great, continues to take on ridiculous challenges to achieve true boxing greatness, to do extraordinary things in the sport, stuff that nobody else would even dream of or have the balls to achieve. A Middleweight going up two full weight classes to take on one of the biggest punchers at Light Heavyweight in recent memory, a guy who many believe beat Andre Ward.
I think he knows lol, he's just busting my balls for not using a comma after Jesus, no biggie shadow.
Roy Jones Jr moved up to 175 and fought at heavyweight. Michael Moorer started at 175 and moved up to heavyweight and won the title twice. I don't see how Canelo moving up to fight overrated Kovalev has anything to do with balls. He knows unless he gets knocked out he will get the decision. This is the USA after all and you know there is no way he is going to lose here.
Let's be clear that this isn't the same Kovalev that fought Ward though. He's older and more deteriorated and has been stopped twice since that being said Canelo is clearly daring to be great still. Kovalev is still elite, I just don't want you to try and discredit Ward if Canelo wins, and try and compare the wins.
It's a huge jump in weight for cinnamon munchkin boy against a very skilled powerpunching operator. What was Golovkin's excuse again for never moving up in weight?
And yet he sidesteps at: MW: Saunders, Charlo, Andrade SMW: Smith, Benavidez LHW: Bivol, Gvodzyk, Beterbiev All undefeated specimens. Let's be honest, had Kovalev not lost twice to Ward then been shockingly knocked out by Elieder, Canelo would not be making this attempt. He sees Kovalev as the low hanging fruit and thinks he can exploit that. Either way, Kovalev regardless of his recent missteps and possible post prime level is still an excellent boxer with lightning in his fists. He has the ability to dominate Canelo on the front or back foot regardless of size. And if Canelo loses, he can always say he shot for glory and still get credit. Canelo is very good, but not jump up multiple divisions good. And he still has unfinished business.
Hes fighting a fighter that was almost stopped by none other than Anthony ****ing Yarde let that sink in before you start claiming this as the biggest win in boxings history.
Tactical risk. Kovalev is washed up. If they weren't confident in this they wouldn't have taken the fight. I favor Clenelo too unfortunately. Hope I'm wrong but Krusher is done.
No he doesn't. He has shown a legendary ability to cherrypick. Kovalev is way past it, finished, done. The Yarde fight showed it. He dominated the majority of it but he always looked vulnerable, on edge. He could have gone for the other champions, but we all know how those end. But...if he thinks that a shot Kovalev is going to be easy..he's mistaken. He still has a boxing brain despite everything else being in decline. And more importantly, he has the size, the reach and power, a ton of it. Canelo is getting beaten quite convincingly on the cards in my eyes, maybe even knocked down midway through. He's bitten off far more than he can chew. As they always say..pick on someone your own size.
Kovalevs last two fights prove he has plenty left in the tank to beat Canelo , or at the least give him absolute hell. People only say he's finished cos they can't bring themselves to give Canelo credit. Those guys tend to be fans of fighters , not fans of the sport.
