He ran Duran (in their first fight) and DeJesus close. You think the Night of the Living Dead extra DLH which Pac fought would run them close?

Villa holding his own against a prime Wilfred Benitez is much more impressive to me than Cotto beating an ossified Shane Mosley (and even that was controversial) or a Zab Judah.

I think they'd have a close fight, but Mamby would probably edge it.

Most of them are underrated imo as far as H2H ability goes. A lot didn't go on to have brilliant careers, but the likes of Villa and Lampkin are quality fighters. Just watch them in some of their fights and you'll have to agree.

Yes. At least 4 HOFers and at least 3 other titleholders good enough to beat HOFers.

Let's see those "better" resumes then.

Firstly I'd suggest that Viruet running Duran close was more a fact of the ten round distance and Duran not taking him seriously than the quality of himself as a fighter. Your right about De la Hoya but in hindsight these things are simple, the fact that Pac went up two divisions and absolutely dominated must be factored into the quality of the win.

I would certainly agree however that Ray Lampkin was a very good fighter and would have done alot better in most era's but I can't agree on Villa (in what way did he hold his own against Benitez?) he never beat an opponent of note, had a relatively good chin but was all in all a solid operator rather than a genuinely good fighter. I would certainly back both the Cotto and Mosley of 07 to beat him.

Benitez vs Villa was very close imo.

Villa was very skilled; a classic boxer-puncher, though he wasn't around for long and took on tough challenges.I wouldn't pick Cotto or 2007 Mosley over him.Too technically able for both of them.
