    I've been a González fan longer than I've posted on this forum!!! And he's one fight away from a decent shot at his possible fourth championship.

    I remember being so disappointed by that first fight. Thought Jhonny would punch and control his way to a decision or late stoppage. Way wrong... Huge Jhonny fan, not sure how anyone cannot be. KO 1'ing Mares one of the finer things to happen during my time on these forums.

    González just beat Irving Berry via UD12. I'm stoked and everything, since this keeps him active heading into a probable world title eliminator in early 2018, but I wish it hadn't been on Televisa (notoriously hard to find a way to watch outside Mexico; they provide live streams on their website but with restricted access based on your region...so a person in their country who doesn't subscribe could just mooch off the website and watch things free, but those of us that couldn't be paying customers even if we asked to be get frozen out...so dumb) because I just wasted an hour of my life...and on a night that I could've gotten some extra sleep because of Daylight Savings.

    Oh well.

    He made his second defense of the WBC Latino 130lb title (captured in March with KO3 Francisco Contreras, and defended in July with KO2 Jessie Cris Rosales), which means his position - currently WBC #3 - is pretty secure for now. Vargas and Salido are both in action on December 9th @ Mandalay Bay; if either one loses, González moves up! If both lose, he's mandatory!

    Bro... mad love for Jhonny. One of my favorites and so underrated.

    In recent years, two of my most emotional results as a fan was:
    1. joy; Jhonny KO'ing Mares
    2. frustration; Jhonny losing to Ponce de Leon

    Still a little salty that I wasted my night (and potential extra Daylight Savings hour of sleep) hunting down a way to watch to no avail. Why couldn't this have just been on beIN Sports or Fox Deportes??

    I thought it was badass when Rey mysterio walked him out to the ring... then Russell ko'd him lol.

    When he KO'd Mares that was epic, former sparring partners or not Mares got owned

    Not retired, believe it or not - or rather, he was, for a period of about eight months, but unretired last November announcing his intentions to gun for a world championship in a third weight division (super feather). Currently in training while Pueblo Promotions hunts for an opponent for a tuneup on Aztecs TV. Return date also TBA.
