Round 1 They come together slugging away. Very bad headbutt, Saulong getting the worst of it...but maybe not. They're both hurting. Ref has Ramonal in a corner, not sure whether he's admonishing/warning him or checking if he's okay, hard to say from the camera angle. Time in. Ramonal chucking big fat body shots diving in. Saulong taking a step back and countering with hooks on the head. They fall together repeatedly in rough, violent clinches, heads clashing a few more times, both of them wincing and blinking when they do - incidental, nobody's fault in particular, but painful. 10-9 Saulong, close
Round 2 Lots more wrestling. Saulong is driving Ramonal into the ropes with his shoulder wedged into his chest. Big uppercuts and wide body slaps by Ramonal but nothing too clean landed from him on the backfoot as he is swept like so much debris into a dustpan across the ring. Saulong is working neat short hooking combos, going from abdomen to face and back down the ladder again with both hands alternating their altitude with each blow. Ramonal starts to connect on some more of his body shots as Saulong begins tiring out, flopping against him without punching as much. Rabbit punches by Ramonal but also some heavy swings into his lungs & flanks as Saulong remains hunched forward. 10-9 Ramonal, close 19-19
Round 3 Saulong is driving forward, hooking the body, letting Ramonal smack him behind the head, and virtually fireman's-carrying him into the corner, where he plugs his left shoulder aggressively into Ramonal's chin, buries his own face in Ramonal's chest, and whacks away up top with blind left hooks into the side of Ramonal's jaw. Ramonal getting bullied now as Saulong catches a second wind. Ramonal forced to retreat until he splays his legs and starts to flurry madly. They get entangled in a clinch until separated. Again they come together wildly and there's another terrible headbutt. The ref calls time and escorts Ramonal to side of the ring apron, perhaps to check a cut (outside the camera's frame). Ref now appears to be instructing commission officials and judges at ringside that a cut was caused by a headbutt. This might be over, which probably means a NC. Let's see... 10-9 Saulong (just in case we are going to a technical decision, but in most jurisdictions you need to exceed four completed rounds to reach the scorecards) 29-28 Saulong
That was shaping up to be fun (if a little messy), wouldn't mind seeing a more conclusive rematch at some point.
This is Ramonal's sixth career "draw"...which looks a bit suspicious on his record, so at second blush, sure enough - just one is a 'majority draw' that actually went the scheduled distance. This is his FIFTH technical draw with less than four rounds completed. So, needless to say, there is no question as to whom to assign the lion's share of blame for all the headbutts today. Ramonal is a serial offender.
