Jim Corbett being annoying with Dempsey

Corbett essentially clowned every man that he ever fought.

Opponents who praised his power, were few, and far between!

 

He didnt get to do a lot of clowning with Tom Sharkey.

 

If he was Sullivan was 5' 9", Fitz was about the same and Jeffries was 5' 11". Every reasonably scaled photo of him shows him taller than these men. This is like Johnson's reach .. some love to report it as 74" .. in Pollack's massive volumes on Johnson there are many reports of his reach at 75" - 77" .. he is endlessly written of by first hand accounts of utilizing his superior long reach to manipulate opponents who while shorter are reported to have equal or longer reaches ..

 

Corbett was one ugly SOB. Even wearing leather thong shorts he was not an attractive man. Looks like one of the Village People.

 

Jack looked like he was gonna break his finger for a second there.

 

Yeah, Jack Johnson is the obvious Ali touchstone even if Corbett fought more like him. The public tends to respond differently to that attitude depending on some key factors.
