This guy has to be the worst interviewer ever. How he ever got the job at SHOWTIME I have no idea. He has zero personality, he seems timid whenever he interviews someone. He speaks in monotone voice. I'll take Larry Merchant, anyone over Jim Gray. Other announcers can be arrogant, pompous, egotistical, but Gray has no personality whatsoever, he doesn't even seem to be interested in boxing. Maybe he's trying to be completely neutral in his interviews, but he's bland. That's the best way I can describe him. Maybe he's related to someone high up at SHOWTIME because he's been there for a long time.
I’m recently starting to think he’s not that bad. His interviews aren’t wildly eccentric, and he carries them out in a consistent manner. Maybe I’m just settling. Uh oh
He was pretty bad. He must have blackmailed Don King or something to get and keep the job He looked like the type of guy who spent his childhood indoors near the comforting arms of his over-protective mother and was always picked last in PE class because he was as badly uncoridnated as he was unathletic looking.
Very well done by Jim. He handled that with class and poise, and got the answer he was looking for from the red.
I like him. Sometimes I think he might get punched someday by someone like Tyson when he asks a smart question, but he does well and gets to the point. That is why people like him. He is not the kiss ass kind of guy like Al Bernstein, who I think is excellent. He just has his own style.
He is a robot which is both his strength and his weakness. He will just plug through with a question even when it is inappropriate, on the other hand he keeps going even when it gets awkward.
Im fond of him.Hes polite and asks the right questions.his work post bite fight was as good as it gets
He's a star for holding it together in the interview post Tyson/Ettiene fight. "I broke my back!" "What do you mean Mike?" "My back is broken!" "Which part Mike, a vertebra or something?" "Thspinal!"
