You asking for proof is actually extremely funny. You've never posted any since you've been here! What did Langford weigh in1906? 156lbs. I know smelling salts were banned in the UK when Ali fought Cooper, WTF has that to do with anything?:huh
Names of the opponents Jeffries faced in these mythical fights.Adam Pollack ,known for his exhaustive research, could not find them! The idea of you ,educating and correcting anyone is farcical ,you're thicker than sh*t!
idk about you, but I've seen people critique Burns for not throwing more than one punch at a time, in a film where his first exchange is a sharp 1-2. Or that King Levinsky doesn't move against Baer, even though he's dancing on his toes in round 20 or so. There are 30+ year veterans of the sport who will looks at the "phantom punch", and say it was an arm punch. I don't blame anyone, I blame the camera technology. But that's the way it goes.
At the same time, people will think a boxer like Luis Ortiz is above and beyond Jeffries in terms of skill. https://youtu.be/HJTfrzYcz-w?t=1m
You hide behind what can not be pulled from the web. Look a newspaper said it, and Jeffries has several other matches in print that were not recorded by box rec. So unless you think the newspapers were for some reason lying, he had 40+ fights, not 22 as you incorrectly claim. As I said before old man, your so full of it, you have flush handles for ears. I will correct you as I choose. Maybe if your manners change I'll ease up on your mistakes. You can either accept it or leave.
If he had that many fights, that's super impressive. But even without the supposed unreported fights, he had one of the best records of any boxer of all time imo. It seems like many boxers in Jeffries time, at Jims talent level, were flung into world class opposition as soon as their pro careers started. The same thing can be stated Corbett. Jeffries doesn't have as many "fluff" wins as most pro boxers. Jeffries went undefeated until being dragged back into the ring socio-political reasons.
Aw, you can't show me proof of When Langford's manager advertised that he would fight any man but Jeffries, and have no example of smelling sales being used in boxing circa 1900 yet you are sure they did! I'm saying you're wrong, it wasn't 1904. 0-2 How typical. Your "proof " when you post it here is often from books, some of which were wrong. We know you don't watch many films. In fact, I can't recall anyone here saying " good post McVey " but one day I'm sure you will give us one.
I forgot that you were the one who replied to my post with I completely disagree for all the reasons I explained in that thread. If you can't see the enormous differences in footwork or punching technique, I really don't know what to say.
Wow a newspaper said it!atsch I'll take Adam's research over an unverified snippet in a newspaper any day of the week and twice on Sundays! Unless you can come up with the names of these opponents ,[and we already know you won't be doing that!] It remains bull sh*t. You are an illiterate, bigoted ,clown ,who should have been put down at birth.
I actually tried backing up my argument with clips, footage, and examples. Specifics. But you never did the same. Oh well...
Undefeated, but not all wins, two were draws. Before his comeback Jeffries fought two prime class opponents Ruhlin and Sharkey ,Ruhlin had been ruined by Fitzsimmons who beat the cr8p out of him.Sharkey gave him life and death in2 fights despite conceding4 inches in height and32lbs in weight. Many thought he deserved a draw in one of their fights. He basically made his rep on old ,coming out of retirement, smaller men.
But if we're going that deep to discredit his accomplishment, don't we enter the territory of being able to do the same for many ATG legends?
Come on... You provided some cherry-picked examples that weren't at all representative of how these fighters fought. If you really need examples to see how differently the men I mentioned fought, I would be glad to oblige though. Give me a second.
You are incapable of learning! Put down is a term for aminals, you really are a miserable human being. And I'm okay with that as you deserve it. Here are some names for you not in Box rec. I don't want to bring Adam into your bit@chfest, but he can state if he wants which news papers he used for his book. Just understand that many of those covering went defunct. Now for some names, and do show me a source for your smelling salts and incorrect information on Langford, which I predict you will never produce correctly!
