My internet connection is too slow to produce reports at the moment, but this story about the death of Guydo actually seems to check out from the many snippets i have just looked at (sorry i know i forgot the link on the other post but it is too hard to get it at the moment). Gudo was a apparantly a savate expert who confronted jeffries in Paris.

    http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/l...uydo&y=0&x=0&dateFilterType=yearRange&index=5

There is one article i can get to.

    http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/l...ydo&y=0&x=0&dateFilterType=yearRange&index=13
    http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83030214/1900-03-14/ed-1/seq-5/;words=Guydo?

    date1=1836&rows=20&searchType=basic&state=&date2=1922&proxtext=guydo&y=0&x=0&dateFilterType=yearRange&index=12

That last report mentions Jeffries stopping guydo easy with some body shots. It seems that Guydo may have had tuberculosis at the time of the fight.

    Bump.

This is topical to the thread about Jeffries unrecorded fights.

Janitor, if you do have any info on a childs fight, is there any chance you could post it here.

    Bumping, as requested by Mendoza.

I dont think this is the thread i was thinking about, but it has some good links if the old links still work.

This is a side question and i dont want to derail the thread, but is there an equivalent to the old google news archive search. Searching us papers is near impossible nowadays, what search engine is the common one to use nowadays.

Thanks for the bump. Yeah, Jeffries had quite a few un-recorded fights and sparring sessions. A while back there was a news paper report that Jeffries whipped 20 men before facing Fitzsimmons. I might be able to find it and re-post it here.

The problem is many of the fights could have been local things so history forgets them. Some of them are mentioned as part of the article. As such I tend to believe them.

Bob Fitzsimmons himself claimed 300 fights. Maybe this is a bit of an exaggeration, but I think he had at least 20-50 more wins than history recorded.

What you won't find is any mention of Jeffries koing Dunkhorst as you several times stated he did, but you will conveniently swerve that one, despite repeated requests for a primary source listing it.
It isn't in Tracy Callis' list of exhibitions for Jeffries nor in Pollack's
and Adam pm''d me to say he could find no trace of it ever occurring ,so one wonders where you came up with the information from ? Your ever fertile imagination perhaps?

For your information , when Jeffries came to the UK, his brother was billed as Ed Dunkhorst and some times as Jack Dunkhorst in exhibitions with him..The real Dunkhorst was in the US during that time..:think Don't worry I'm not expecting a reply with proof of your statement, that is NEVER going to happen.:-(

ps. How did you like me correcting you on the Ali thread ?
You know the one about Arthur Mercante sticking his finger in Frazier's eye ,a very well known occurence ,well ,well known to everyone but you.
