In regards to Jeffries' chin, he took tons of punches from Fitz. If he had issues with his chin it certainly would have been found out by Fitz. Regardless of what weight class he was. Fitz was an anomaly of the sport. Definitely not the norm, he was the exception.
Until Ortiz fights another champ I will never favor him over a fighter like Jeffries. It's like Kovalev all over again, first people thought he was the **** and was on route to becoming an atg. Next thing we know he folds like a lawn chair in the face of a few body punches.
I believe Jeffries is overated by his fan base, and so is his power, but I think his chin was top notch, however light Choynski and Fitz were they both knocked senseless 200lbs men, neither could budge Jeff. You can argue Jeffries chin was never tested by a superheavyweight and this is true, but Ortiz is untested against the top men of his era too.He may very well turn out to be a damp squib. If Wilder flattens him with his right hand, all the King Kong mystique is going to look rather silly, similar to the Crusher Kovalev hype. Perhaps this match would have more relevance AFTER the Wilder fight?
So Jeff didn't have a great chin for a heavyweight? I wouldn't consider heroin, marijuana, cocaine, whiskey, or amphetamines to be stamina enhancers. I mean, if I smoke a blunt before a fight there's a slight 99% chance I'm going to get knocked out by the other guy. Muscle coordination wouldn't be the best.
Has anyone learned from the Kovalev debate that to rank unproven fighters along with proven ATG's is a foolhardy and completely amateurish endeavor? Ortiz is unproven. Never in a real tough fight, never even a true champion. A nothing except in the mind of fan boys. Suggest trying to rise above fan boy level.
