Surprised so few like Ward for the job. I think he would by far be the best at pointing out the technical aspects of what each guy is doing or trying to do. Plus his calm manner helps offset Lamps outsized exuberance. I think Lampley is great out of the ring and for general knowledge but Ward sees what is going on in the ring the best.
Lampley, Bernstein & Jones Lampley, Bernstein & Farhood Lampley, Bernstein & Malignaggi Lampley, Bernstein & Ward Any of these 4 would be fine with me
They should bang it out in the co-feature, actually. Hey, if they can throw a Dewey Bozella exhibition 4-rounder on a Hopkins PPV undercard... :conf I'm just saying. :deal
if I were starting to show Boxing programming one of the first guys I would call would be Farhood. He has been around a longtime seen a lot of fights and is very knowledgeable. HBO should have hired him instead of Kellerman.
Antonio Tarver was one of boxing's best color commentators I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. Lampley, Bernstein and Tarver would make a great commentating team.
Yeah, it can't have been "in addition to" - unfortunately, a skinny boxing nerd quota is written into the HBO Sports charter. :verysad
This would probably be the combination I would go with if I had the choice. Unfortunately, the whole PED thing messed up his Showtime gig. Pauli would be my second choice, but unfortunately he had to shoot his mouth off recently. Really anybody but Jones as the third man would be fine by me.
I'd rather see Lampley replaced with Kellerman then add Malignaggi. Not only is Lampley biased, but he misses so many calls.
Lampley and Bernstein are non-negotiable. They are set in stone. All that remains to be seen is who takes spot #3.
Some quality dialogue from the Dawson-Johnson II contest as Lampley is apparently picked up on a mistake by either the internet or his producer: LAMPLEY: Lucian Bute is in the 168lb division, that's correct, i was wrong to feature him as a light-heavyweight. KELLERMAN: And earlier tonight I said Kirkland was out for two years, it's not, it's six months. STEWARD: Well I called Bute a cruiserweight.
