I suppose I am one of those Margarito fans that have gotten bashed all day today and yesterday night.

I predicted Margarito UD(and possibly late TKO).

I was wrong, but to my credit I said Shane had chance (he is Shane after all).

Anyways I just wanted to get that out there and now unto the topic:

Jim Lampley, aside from being way too emotional, is totally biased against Margarito. I know he has reason to be mad at him because of the possible hand wrapping situation but that is no excuse.

    1. We can all remember how emotional and hurt Lampley was when Margo defeated Miguel Cotto.

    2. Lampley was all smiles yesterday after Margarito tasted defeat.

    3. Lampley said that a shadow has been cast on Margo's win over Cotto.

Now I agree that if it turns out that indeed he was using illegal substances in his wraps, he deserved all this hate. The problem I have is with Lampley jumping the gun before the results are in. There is a difference between someone doing it here on ESB and a professional commentator doing it.

    Lampey is biased and unprofessional.

    P.S.

Just so you guys don't think im hating, I enjoy hes commentating but that is just unprofessional.

Not that I disagree with you, but is this all the Margarito fans have to talk about now after their cheating hero got utterly dominated last night?

Lampley consistantly nuthugs and couldn't tell a landed punch from a missed one if he was the one getting hit. But at least he puts emotion into it.

He made the Cotto beating seem like a tragedy and if I can recall, he even wanted to get teary.

He calls it like he sees it. If a fight is one sided he is going to sound bias. Larry Merchant was the one who broke the news about the wraps anyways, none of that was mentioned during the fight, only after the result. And it's true it makes you wonder about the Cotto fight and all the others being broken in the late rounds.

Yeah Lamps is a total drama queen. He did almost cry when Cotto lost, he literally almost broke down!!

I think whats getting lost is that they have a fight to host this summer..and they need a spin to make is interesting. and the spin is that margo cheated the first time so pay for this one too. not that lampley isnt biased because he is. he consistently has called the fights wrong almost always calling out the shots for fighters he is rooting for. but this is HBO. they are incredibly irresponsible with their opinions and seem to promote names not talent. if they think you can capture an audience (latino, euro, etc..) they will hype you up. its almost like a conflict of interests.

Yea Lampley is biased against Pacquiao too. You can tell when he talks about a fighter that he doesn't like, he'll try to be nice but throw in a few jabs.

He has gotten to comfortable at HBO. This is the real problem. Back in the late 80's when he came to HBO he was humble and UN biased. He called the fights right down the middle. Throught the 90's he was good too. However since the 2000's he and Larry Merchant have been feeling too comfortable and they feel they can say whatever they want in a biased way.

HBO needs to slowly replace these guys. Al Bernstein would do a way better job. Barry Thompkins was good, i do not know why HBO got rid of him in the late 80's?
