Can't be any worse than Gus Johnson's coverage of the Ward / Kessler fight or the Dirrell / Froch affair. I could barely watch. His commentary was completely one-sided... I don't think he mentioned one thing good OR bad that Kessler did.

Exactly. Personally I'm a big fan of both, but I couldn't help but cheer Cotto on during the fight, probably because what I really wanted was a close fight, not a one-sided beatdown :!:

Yeah, I like Gus, but he was pretty bad in the first round coverage. Whether it was because he was pulling for the "American" or pulling for the "black guy", I don't know, but he got kind of embarrassing.

I actualy had an I hate Jim Lampley thread going on here at one point. The guy is terrible. This fight was bad and I agree with everything you are syaing but it pales in comparrison to the Margarito fight. Everytime Cotto did anything in that fight it was like Lampley was about to bust a nut. I watched Margarito beat down Cotto, sure Cotto was landing clean shots but Margarito was punishing him with shots to the body and just relentless pressure. I think Manny Stewart is actually a really good comentator and Merchant brings something to the table, but what do we have to do to get Roy Jones back in there. He was the best commentator they had at HBO by far.
