In a tough fight on sheer guts and determination Miguel Cotto toughed it out to a decision win with an AX cut over his left eye.

I believe the judges gave at least some credit to Cotto for continuing the fight with such a bad gash.

This is a fight that wasn't nearly as clear cut as the scores indicate, though a split decision. I had it a draw.
A case can be made for Clottey, and I for one think he deserves a rematch.

This doesn't excuse Jim Lampleys STUPID comments.
For the life of me, I cannot understand why HBO will not can this guy once and for all.

I can't help but feel that the cut won the fight for Cotto.
I also saw Cotto outbox Clottey the last 3 rounds of the fight.
That may have had some bearing.

On the other hand Cotto DID NOT follow his corners instructions when he was told to back Clottey up.
I felt Cotto needed to back Clottey up in the last two rounds to win the fight, just as his corner instructed. Instead, Cotto, boxed fairly masterfully clearly winning at least the last two rounds and possibly the last 3 rounds.

Did Cotto look slow to you guys?
I've never seen Cotto appear as slow as tonight.

Lampley had a crush on Cotto all night. He probably agreed with the 116-111 score. Too much of a bias for Cotto in this fight. If Clottey would have won Lampley would have screamed robbery.

The 116-111 score was complete bull****.
The commission needs to look at this and ban that particular judge from ever scoring another top tier fight.

Don't know he didn't looked this slow vs Mosley, but I think it was Clottey's fault.

I think Cotto has fallen in love with his boxing skills after the Mosley fight...He should go back to his warrior ways IMO. I don't blame him against Clottey though, Clottey's head is a fkn weapon so staying away from it was the best thing Cotto could do.

I agree.........the god damn head butt changed the complexion of the fight.
I picked Clottey to win this fight.........and a case can be made for that.

If Cotto wouldn't have outboxed Clottey in the last two rounds, he would surely have lost this fight.

I had Clottey 1 point ahead going into the 11th round and felt for sure that if Cotto didn't follow the corners instructions and back Clottey up HARD for the last 6 minutes that he'd lose the fight on a UD.

So what does Cotto do? He defies the corner instructions in round 11..........and then defies them again in round 12 and comes out boxing technically and countering. I couldn't believe it.
I'm screaming at the TV, " YOU'RE WINNING THE ROUNDS BUT YOU GOTTA BACK HM UP. Even still I had Cotto winning the last two rounds on pure boxing skills.........but judges.......well.....you CANNOT count on those high class fakes for anything.

Somehow Cotto won this fight........and I still say the judges took into account, warrior spirit.
The AX gash may have won him this fight in the eyes of the judges.

I won't soon be questioning Cottos heart............

    Clottey DESERVES A REMATCH.
This guy is tough as nails and a threat to anyone in the division, though I didn't like his ACTING job after Cotto shed him off.

No. The scorecards were so bad, even if clottey won the last 2 rounds Cotto would have won by a point on 1 card and gotten a draw on the other.

You can make the case that Clottey lost the last 2 rounds, even though in round 11 they both landed the same number of punches, and Clottey was the agressor. But there is no way you can give rounds 2, 3 and 10 to Cotto. No ****ing way.

While Lampley's biases are often readily apparent, he has an excellent broadcasting voice and is great at establishing a dramatic atmosphere when the situation calls for it.
