How many points do you get per punch that you slip?

This could be a new thing.

The other guy throws 50 punches, you make him miss 30, only get hit in the face by 20, you win the round! :)

He is coming to the end of his physical prime, but he's not getting smarter & craftier under Abel.

Ok, he's not the menace of old, but he could do with using better tactics instead of the ones which he wiped people out with a few years ago. Work on head movement, lateral movement, defence etc.

Even when you watch him train it's the same old big power shot after power shot, hardly any combos.

Its not in Golovkin's fans best interest to discuss rounds at lenghth and deal with specifics.
They have the integrity of HBO"s punchstats at hand which show Golovkin outlanding Canelo, and that is more than convenient for them to take as the Gospel.

As Jim Lampley was narrating round one, and that's what it was, a narration and not an honest call of what was actually transpiring, Lampley I believe round 1 called it a clear round for Golovkin which Kellerman disagreed and pointed that Canelo landed the more telling blows of the round.

That was a nice breakdown of round 1 shadow, excellent!

Can't believe this thread has legs..

A Man's physical prime is 23-29 and he peaks at 26. Everything after 26 is a slow gradual slide...mostly naked to the human eye, but endurance, speed, reflexes, flexibility and recovery all are going downhill. No science, vitamins or new training techniques can stop that.

Of course GGG is fading. He's more than simply "on the wrong side of 30", he's 35! He should attempt to unify against Saunders and then make Jacobs happen.

Golden girl will hide Canelo for 18mos minimum. GGG should take the payday at 37yrs old , though i dont expect he could do much. And that's fine , no true boxing fan should hold an old man's losses against his legacy.

What made Chavez Sr. so great was his relentless pressure, stamina, granite chin, and timing. His timing in particular was how he was able to beat fighters who were much faster than him like Taylor and Camacho. Yes, the stoppage in the first Taylor fight was questionable, but Chavez was breaking Taylor down with his pressure and timing.

He is past prime , he’s 35 , so that’s no surprise, but he still won canelo fight and he’s p4p #1.

You name a lot of Chavez' strenghths but leave out the most important. The one strenghth almost everyone who thinks "Chavez" underrates and leaves out.

Never seen a better more complete fighter in my 37 years as a fan.

With over 100 fights to his resume and fights with greats such as Martinez, Rosario, Mayweather, Taylor, Camacho, Whitaker, Delahoya, etc.......
......why on earth do you think JC Chavez doesn't exhibit any signs of being punch drunk????

Julio Cesar Chavez has his marbles about him. Fighters like Taylor and Whitaker should be so lucky.

The overall package of offense, defense, intelligence, without being the quickest or fastest, or even have concussive power.
I've never seen anyone do more with his physical assets as a fighter than I did Julio Cesar Chavez.
Never seen a fighter use every asset of his game better than I ever saw Julio Cesar Chavez put it together.

Check out his defensive abilities here. That along with his abilities to pick off punches mid air with his gloves (parrying) is what made him the special fighter that he was.
The greatest fighter I've ever had the privilege to watch perform, Julio Cesar Chavez!!!

Side note gentleman......Watch his fight with Pernell Whitaker and pay close attention to Julio Cesar Chavez' defense.
You will be surprised just how good defensively he was against Whitaker, but because stereotypically defense is Whitakers game, people neglect to see that Chavez as well was exceptional defensively in that fight.
Exceptional while providing the relentless come forward pressure that he provides each fight. That's whats sets Chavez apart from the others, that he could be as defensively sound as he was while still being offensive minded. That is just so rare for a fighter.
    PHENOMENAL!

Father time is undefeated. But still got enough to beat Canelo.

    Canelo should have three loses.
