Lampley's carrying the torch from Merchant. It's marvelous to see the truth gradually come out. The greater exposure will only further prove to the few dismissive folks that it's simply a fact that Events exist in boxing.

Sound argument and reasoning right here. More people should listen. No one would suggest it's 100% clear cut, but it's far more conclusive and clear than the actual result to fights. Thus exists the great and true importance of events within boxing.

Of course it's an adequate description.

Morales did much better than expected but didn't actually win the fight.

If you want to pretend he did based on your own opinion (and Jim Lampley's), then you go for it.

Morales just did vey well. He didn't win anything.

So I guess according to Lampley Golota won the "event" (aka the riot) during his fight with Bowe at MSG.

Valuev EVT12 Haye is another obvious one. No amount of judges scorecards and queensbury lawbooks could deny Sir Nikolai the event accolades bestowed on him by the watching millions that night.

And I'm a Haye fan etc.

The result isn't synonymous with the event (Although in my cases that's what makes an EVT win. IE robbery, bad reffing/judging, etc).

However, who are you to say that Morales didn't win the fight? Of course, we know that he lost the official result of the fight, but many people felt he didn't. We went from pre-fight "pray for Morales" to "Morales got robbed." Maybe if you explored eventing with a more open-minded you would understand it the way Jim Lampley and many knowledgeable posters on ESB do.

Maidana won the fight, thats the result which is recorded & I'm not saying he didnt.

    However

Who won the event? This is the purpose of this thread. All the other threads around today about El Terrible basically say the same thing.

Morales ****ing big time, he romped it. EVT12

Lol. Who are you to say he did?

Doesn't the official result count anymore then? Is it simply not good enough?

Morales did much better than expected. That's all there is to say about it.
He wasn't robbed or cheated. He lost a close fight.

Talking about it in terms of "the event" doesn't suddenly make it a win.
