It wasn't just Lampley him and ULTIMATE DOUCHE Max Kellerman couldn't stop talking about what a beating Cotto was putting on Margo, when the fight was stopped Max made a comment on how Margo had only won two rounds! thats right two. Now I love boxing and can certainly appreciate how well Cotto was fighting, he fought a great fight quick hands and great accuracy, but I'm sorry to say that Margo was in complete control for most of the fight. Cotto ran away not by choice it wasn't ring generalship Antonio made him run away all night long and the puch stats don't tell the whole story Margo pummled him all over. Sorry for the rant but these two make me want to drive my truck through both of them.
The reason he mentioned Cotto being hit while he's down as having "supposed to be a big thing here in Nevada" is because of another fight in the past few months, I forget the names of the fighters....but one was DQ'ed for hitting his opponent while he was down and it was really nothing. Manny Steward got really pissed off live on the air about it...anyone remember? Anyway, he was NOT suggesting Margo should be thrown out. He was taking another shot at the ridiculousness of the earlier fight, since if there could be a DQ there, there could have been one on Margo and probably many other fighters when something minor like that happens.
I haven't seen the TV broadcast and won't comment on last night, but as a Lampley fan, even I will admit that he seems to have become more sentimental over the past five years. It's natural, he's aging, but it does lead to more of an emotional connection to certain fighters than might be ideal. Having said that, in the past a lot of these criticisms have been bunk.
Yeah, when Cotto was noticably showing down, taking big punches Lampley was talking about Cottos masterful defensive skills and how Margo wasn't hitting him He's been around too long, the boxing world needs new broadcasters.
Thats exactly what I've been thinking. Margarito put on such an assault Cotto kept retreating and running from Margarito, how can you win a fight on RUNNING not moving around the ring but plain out RUNNING? in regards to only winning 2 rounds THATS ABSURD! Margarito had cotto hurt numerous times and pushed the fight to him. I'll give cotto credit he was tough and I had the fight even going into the 11th but that is ridiculous
Symphenyceo - LOL! * I should have mentioned that Czyz hated Holyfield because of what he thought were Holy's dirty tactics when the two men fought: “Holyfield is a dirty fighter. He elbowed me. He forearmed me. He thumbed me. He hit me low. He headbutted me. He did a number of things. I didn’t complain once. I said, ‘F..k ‘em…whatever...’ I’m a big boy. I didn’t come down with yesterday’s rain. I’m no boy scout.” ---Bobby Czyz on his fight with Evander Holyfield * Again, the Czyz reference calling the Tyson-Holfyield fight is the perfect example of bitter, biased announcing. Perfect way to frame Lampley's crap. Dostoevsky, that was awesome! :thumbsup :good :thumbsup
Yea not hitting him but had Cotto bleeding from three places while Margarito have swelling. HBO crew pisses me off. except Max. And when the hell is Cotto considered as a master defensive person? It is not the first time we saw he bleeding and busted it up? Jim takes it to another level.
He's always been this way, whats's so suprising..He has a handful of fighters he gets his lipgloss n pompoms ready for..Can't stand the ass kissing he gets into
