I really like Manny on the team. You can tell he has to hold back his VAST knowledge of the sport to NOT give away the outcome too early.:yep

I don't recall the part your talkin' about in the Toney fight, and will try to look it up to see it, as Manny IMO is the man.:good

do you know if it's on a YouTube clip??

I can honestly tell you that nobody can tell the difference between forced emotion and real emotion with Jim Lampley. His VOICE alone sells the moment and even if it seems like it's forced, Nobody can tell. The casual fans can't tell it at all.

And for all the Manny Steward love, he IS the master of hyperbole. Case in point against Forbes he says on a number of occasions that this is the best performance he's ever seen from Oscar.

Until there's a better replacement for these guys, we'll have to appreciate them for what they are.

Lennox Lewis can be fun when he's with Max Kellerman and Bob Papa, mainly because he consistently bullies those two with his opinions.

Its when he moves up to do commentary with Merchant and Lampley he stiffens up because he doesn't have the gusto to keep up with them.

THAT SAID I loved his call for Maskaev/Rahman II.

The problem of late with Lampley for me is that he seems to be looking for that dramatic moment in the fight, so he gets grandiose and inaccurate. He anticipates something big happening, but he announces it happened whether or not it did. I think part of the reason a lot of Jermain Taylor has so many haters is because Lampley would anticipate him doing something he never did, so he'd get hit by Winky Wright, suddenly throw 6 punches, and you'd get, "And there's SIX unanswered for Taylor! Winky is stunned!" even when they barely touched skin.

Fine assessment, sir. That is the case exactly it appears. BUT one of my fave Lennox moments is AFTER Merchant give the post fight in-Ring interview, that usually has some crazy **** in it, and the camera goes back to Jim and Lennox at ring side.....it's that about to crack the **** up smile Lennox always has. You know he's tickled at Merchant.:yep

That's a perfect example of why many of us feel he is sometimes BIASED.:deal

i read your post with a open mind, but when you said they have no emotion thats just absurd. Lamply and Merchant get excited all the time, Merchant on Pavlik-Taylor, Merchant on Vitali-lewis. and we all know lamply tirades "right to the head! strafing uppercut! TREMENDOUS BODY SHOT!!" so shut up you hater and educate yourself on the facts.

"Its man on man, in a fight for men only..." I had to laugh at that one.
