Lol for me its so funny because I m a spanish speaker, but i have to recognise that most of the time they use the right pronounciation, I cant imagine Spanish commentators trying to pronounce more English names, as they say Estifen-Curri, just like it sounds or "strange names" as Mani Pac-ki-ao

 

I don't know what the hell your point is and how it fits in the context of my reply to CST.

I'm just saying that Kovalev's last name isn't pronounced correctly, I wasn't even complaining about it or anything. Even Slavs like me don't pronounce it correctly since we pronounce it like e when it should be what they write with ё in Russian cyrillic, we don't have that sound in my (Slavic) language.

 

English might be easy, but still a foreign language to me.

regarding the topic of this thread, the particular case you mentioned i think is de minimis

i lived in Spain for five years and i know that even a two-syllable surname will be pronounced differently depending on the region--for instance, in Andalucia it's likely to be pronounced with a "lisp", as those folks down south tend to do.

and that pronounciation--by native Spanish speakers pronouncing a Spanish surname--is probably further from what you consider the "correct" pronounciation than Lampley's

 

too right. If you're a fighter and you're interviewed post-figth by Jim Lampley, you've pretty much made it to a level 999 others out of 1000 never will. In that situation, i'd be ok if he put the accent on the wrong syllable in my surname

Lamply and Max mispronounce also Roid Jones, notice they call Lomachenko, Lomanchenko, there in no "N" after the "A".
