'How the f*ck can those judges give that verdict to George Groves? That is absolute nonsense. I was going to say it at the press conference but I'll say it to you now. I think all these big fights in future - the judges have got to have earphones on. They have got to have earphones on,' reiterated the coach.

'The judges sat at ringside, God bless them they're only human, were hearing the noise of Groves' people when he's throwing shots - that ain't landing by the way, James has got the best defence in boxing - and scoring them.'

'I've crowned myself world champion since this fight because there was no way I lost on points to Brian Mitchell if George Groves beat James DeGale. I 'won' much more clearly than Groves did.'

    :-(

James is one of Fwank's top potentional money makers so I can see Mcdonnel having no further part.

Jim McDonnell and DeGale will be together for the long haul i'm afraid and it will seriously hamper his career imo.

And still people think DeGale is going anywhere. Laughable. He's a hype-job, plain and simple.

I still love it :D Groves beating DeGale is my favourite win of all time!

Also I like how Jim McDonnell openly states in that press conference that the biggest win of his own career meant nothing because McGuigan was finished then.

Yeah, go your own way Degale.

I'm a fan of fighter styles like Mayweather, Malignaggi, Witter, Froch, Toney. I understand the shoulder roll, I understand what it looks like when an opponent is not landing but the crowd are cheering, but even I know that Groves was landing. This wasn't a case of Groves landing shots that Degale was blocking and the Groves fans and corner were cheering for, he was legit getting hit. His face proved it.

After a loss which wasn't even a soul destroying defeat but still the first loss you've had to deal with in the professional ranks, you need to have a think about where you're gonna go, how you're gonna handle it and what's next. What you need to do is to accept it, move on and continue to fight. There is no point about crying over spilt milk, the fight will happen again in the future if you work towards it. That's the thing, going into this fight you should know the risks of losing. There's no point calling him out and saying OH THATS BULL**** DEGALE WON because the judges and most people disagreed. I, personally felt Degale won but I'm not gonna go as far to say Groves wasnl't landing on him.

So the match is over with, if you want the rematch, fight towards it. You can't keep talent down, the only way the fight doesn't happen is if the fans don't want it (highly unlikely) or it becomes irrelevent and pointless. Very rarely will a rematch never happen for other reasons, but even if it doesn't come together you can't keep going on about it. You have to move forward, and if Degale is to move forward, he needs to accept the loss (which he seems to have) and not have a corner buttering him up and telling him "you won that fight, man", same with promoters. That's the problem with fighters today, they're told otherwise and built up to be so big whereas someone like Cus D'Amato or Angelo Dundee would be like "you lost the fight, lets focus on the future", not going on about a fight they lost and that they actually won it. McDonnell doesn't seem that type of trainer, and Degale will not go all the way with him, and if he does it will be because he has the natural talent. All this guy is doing is slowing him down, because in my opinion he didn't bring anything to the table that Degale could use to beat Groves that he didn't already know. When he knew he was in deep ****, he started throwing and going forward trying to land. That's not a tactic, that's just wanting to fight, and Degale came to that conclusion himself.

Jim McDonnell has always seemed alright, yet he's been coming across as a right bellend lately.

The pressure is on mate, he'll be hoping that DeGale is his ticket to the really big leagues.
