I agree. Ali was surprised by it and didn't even realize he had hit him. In the immediate post fight interview Ali didn't know if it was a left or a right he hit him with. He asked to look at the tapes. He had no idea what sent Liston down.

I think Ali assumed Liston was going to dive later in the fight. That's probably what they had rehearsed.

Liston didn't follow the script, for whatever reason.

I cant find any footage of this fight at all, And my question is why couldnt they find a HW sub instead of a WW..I mean were they trying to get this guy killed?..something fishy about that since HW's were a dime a dozen back then as were sparring partners.

Is there no more from Doctor Zuntov? I was hoping that such a learned academic treatise would at least include an appendix where he showed the mathematical formulae used to calculate punching power by the energy-force theory. Perhaps a discussion of the application of Planck's constant to sparring.

    Dr. Alexander Zuntov,

Never took into account, the amount of J & B Scotch that Sonny Boy
consumed the night before the fight.

If Sonny Boy walked into the ring that night in Lewiston, Maine with a
severe 'hangover', a mediocre punch would have felled him.

Or as Jack Dempsey said,.......'I didn't watch the fight because
I knew something like this was going to happen.'

Interpretation..... Cassius Clay ain't knocking anybody out with that punch.

Interesting. I see Zuntov's theories took in Newton's laws of motion as well as quantum mechanics.

Perhaps his analysis of "motion, space and time" in the ring will help clarify why Niels Bohr and Albert Einstein disagreed so strongly over whether Johnson could have beaten Dempsey.

    Howard Cosell,,

'Cassius Clay has never been known as a 'one-punch knocker outer'.

Classic logic from a brilliant mind.
