Unlike the other bandwagon ESPN analysts he has actually been repping boxing from the start. No matter what anyone says about him, he'll always be cool wit me. "step ya game up' lol.
The fact that he leads with Pacquiao/Hatton instead of giving it a perfunctory analysis after Boston/Chicago and the Alex Rodriguez soap opera really does show that. He's the only one on ESPN that I actually put stock in when it comes to our beloved sport.
I don't like him much, but I do like the way he covers boxing and for that I can't be mad at him. I was listening in on the radio to his show only a few days back where he had Mayweather Sr. on before the fight. I think I only understood about 2 words of what Floyd said during that interview, but I think it's great how Rome can get the boxing stars on his show. Keep doing your thing my man and bring as many new people as possible to our sport. :thumbsup
Yeah Rome actually talks boxing and I ahve heard Roach Merchan, Lampley, Oscar, PBF, Hopkins and others on his show.
I always thought Rome was just a casual fan. But before the third Vasquez-Marquez fight he had Al Bernstein on his ESPN show. He started off saying something to the effect of "it seems to me Marquez is not as devastating at 122 pounds as he was at 118." That's something I can't see a Skip Bayless or those other dumb asses on First Take mentioning. He definitely seems to follow the sport more than the other ESPN analysts outside of the FNF crew.
It is good to see boxing get some mainsteam run. It takes awhile to get used to his show, give it two weeks and you will think it is hillarious. I used to hate it but now I think it is great. [YT]niLrI-gJEOA[/YT] this is great
Wow, they've been talking about Pac - Hatton even on Around the Horn and Pardon the Interruption. They even went a little in depth on PTI.
