The best thing about Primetime's coverage by far was Jim. The American commentator was dreadful, and you felt for poor old Duke having the hopsital pass of being alongside somebody who seemingly knew little or nothing. But Rosenthal was class. He has been doing it 30 years, back to the great days of ITV, and is a calm assured presence. If Primetime are to breakthrough, he is a huge assett. On another tack, I hope Jim is taking legal action against the morons who suggested he had come out with a racist off mike comment. I have listened and he did not. Shame on boxing websites for allowing this libellous rubbish to gather momentum. Jim is the consummate pro, a friend of the Khan family, and a nice man.
Benny Ricardo is OK, but bettter with Latin fighters who he knows well, his colour commentary alongside Bob Sheridan i usually enjoy, especailly on a Mexican or Puerto Rican card. Not a good choice for Primetime but it might have worked had he been paired with Steve Bunce. That said a lap dancer doing sign language would have struggled to make the Munroe fight interesting.
"Here we are! Your two combatants in the ring! In the red corner is Amir 'King' Khan! In the blue corner is Paul McCluskey!" Sorry.. not a big fan of Benny Ricardo personally.
He is a racist alright, here he is caught red handed. Shocking racism really. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzmhXuUlNi8"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzmhXuUlNi8[/ame]
not the sort of thing you should say i know, but i dont get pissed off when someone says the Brit forum!!! or should we start getting mad about it as it is the same thing really, i mean do you people say scotch? scousers? mancs? taffys? i mean did the commentator call Katsidis an Aussie, becuase i am sure he did,
The presentation team was put together in less than five days...Kerr was ace, Big Jim a rock, the commentary team had their moments, the carnage at the end was brilliant and Primetime nailed it...that is down to a fella called Jim Bentley...it was bold TV...they went where Setanta once trod...a path that NO broadcaster has been down since...not perfect, but what if they worked twice each month for six months? Adios.
They don't seem too interested in that though. Unlike Premier it looks like they were in it for a fast £ rather than the long haul.
I dont know, i an see this being the home of Khan from now on, especially with how Oscar was talking.
i love jim......tell you what tho, when he turns on the side his ****ing hooter is massive man!!!!... looks normalish from the front!
