Jarama = Many thanks, Im sure theres some pun in there about James Watt and the Steam Engine.... Im still pondering on that one !!
His fight with Davis is an excellent demonstration of how intelligence and experience can overcome speed, so often seen as the be all and end all in boxing.
Of course, if the same thing happens in the states, or anywhere else to a Brit, it's quite a different story, eh boys?
Oh yes, that's the rules. Marciano hit Don ****ell low, after the bell, with his elbow.Don didn't complain so the Rock hit Don after dropping him. Turpin butted and cut Robinson twice John conteh was good with his yed too Lloyd Honeyghan didn't wait for his American opponents to get off the stool Nigel Benn had his own rule book Sean O'grady who usually had his own ref in the states cut Watt first but the head is mightier than the 8 oz glove and Watt won.
Good fighter. Not as gifted as his compatriot,Ken Buchanan, but effective enough. Terry Lawless brought out the best in him. Was very brave albeit hopelessly outclassed against Alexis Arguello.
I always thought he fought arguello in London rather than Glasgow because he knew his time had come As you said he was brave as well as always being 100% when he got in the ring. Buchanan was a step up in class.
