He had Porter winning it by one point. Nothing outrageous in that, it was an extremely close fight, very messy and difficult to score.

The American commentary team on showtime had Brook winning agreeing with your observations.

This is true. He did the same for Sturm-Macklin. :admin

But overall I do rate him as a good commentator.

A great night for British boxing and Watt ruined the broadcast for me. Downloading the showtime stream here now, so I can watch it again.

If Sky insist with Watt then they should at least give you the option of no commentary/US commentary. It was embarrassing last night for Sky how far wide of the mark Watt was.

He always seems to be on the case of British fighters like he's got a hidden bitterness on them succeeding on the world stage

Jim Watt is spoiling all the big fights with his negativity and is a turn off to most people, especially newcomers to the sport.

If you watch the Showtime version on youtube you would think they were talking about 2 different fights.

He wasn't even close - I did have to mute my television in the end! He was not even calling the punches! It was quite strange to watch!

FYI I had it close but a brook win!

Watching on Sky I thought brook was lucky to nick it (all be it I was massively tired)

Watching the HBO vesion I had Brook looking comfortable and winning 115-113.

Watt just made you constantly feel Brrok was uncomfortable when on second viewing he actually stayed very calm and relaxed.

He often gets the end score more or less right but he see's the general fight horriffically, and is overly negative most of the time.

~He always gets fixated with something near the beggining of the fight and finds it hard to see past that.

I remember Watt saying that in the Haye-Valuev fight as well. But in fairness to Jim Watt he was taking the politics of boxing into account that night. I mean boxing isn't a black and white straight forward Sport like others it's a grey Sport and Jim was just reminding the viewers about how hard it is to get a decision in Germany.
