It was as well that ****** had a contrary view or I'd have turned the commentary off. After the Froch fight and this I do think that the time has come for Primetime or Sky to offer a crowd effects option so you can turn the commentary off.
For an ex world champion hes got no idea how to score a fight and i find that shocking. He was basically saying unless you come forward in a fight throwing bombs you cant possibly win?? Not taking into account valuev didnt land anything on haye except the occasional counter he said " you cant score a round for haye when hes only landing single shots" WTF!! yes you can if valuev didnt land any you muppet!! He was seriously doing my head in by the end of the fight.Sorry jim your time is up, jog on.
Yeah, he was pretty annoying. But the worst thing is definitely that so much of the audience that watched that fight will now be thinking Haye got a gift. That crosses over from bad commentating into practically slander, over-dramatic as that sounds. It's a negative effect on someone's standing, just because Watt had it stuck in his mind that nothing but a bombfest from Haye would do.
My god guys. If you think his commentary was bad. The worst thing was something I read in a pre fight article, where Jim Wat decided Haye tactics would be to go for the KO because the intensity of his stare What an idiot.
Watt should go, and I was a bit upset with McCrory and Piper after the fight...they were negative about the tactics as well(PIPER had it FOUR rounds up to Valuev!!!!) - At least Johnny Nelson(Who I normally cant stand) said he fought the right fight.
That doesn't shock me - he spent time with Haye, probably talking to him about using movement and being frustrating in the ring. Haye's tactics were excellent. He could have done with throwing more, but thankfully he was rewarded for his boxing skills.
Completely agree about the tactics. If he blew out his hand you can understand the lack of throwing, and even then he had it perfect. Credit to Nelson though, at least he gave him credit. McCrory, Piper and Watt were stuck in "German judging" mode, even AFTER the result atsch
He really puts me off watching sky, hbo and showtime versions of fights are so less painful to listen to than watt
he was truly awful. I had mates round to watch the fight who only normally watch wrestling and never properly watched a boxing match. And even they thought he was a tool who didnt know what he was talking about!
I've been saying this for ages now. Watt CANNOT read a fight and his comments are biased in the extreme against any sort of boxer who choses to fight in an unorthodox manner, eg Witter,Froch,Haskins, etc. Just because he was once a great fighter doesn't mean he knows boxing
