I found this article by Robert Cassidy, in a Ring from the 90s. Apologies if it is hard to read. This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected
Do you know about this http://www.examiner.com/boxing-in-s...er-heavyweight-contender-jimmy-bivins-his-due Jimmy is still alive by the way.
Good to know that Al....sounds a great book ! I´m always looking for books about these fighters less famous and underrated like Bivins.... We need more threads like that about Bivins btw.....
I haven't read it yet but I'm friends on facebook with the fella who wrote it, Jerry Fitch. He really knows his boxing.
Jimmy Bivins at LH would have a picnic today at LH. A great all around fighter of his talent rich era of the 1940s...I saw Jimmy Bivins only once at MSG in 1946, when he fought a draw with the tough, tough southpaw Melio Bettina. Bivins then was 27 years old and Melio Bettina at 30 was past his peak...I'm happy Jimmy Bivens, the only "dinosaur" of my favorite era, the 1940s, still kicking !!!
