    He gets underrated but he owns wins over Charles, Moore, Maxim, Marshall, Lee Q Murray, Curtis Shepherd and Frazier. So I don't think you can count him out against Quarry although the reflex response is just to pick Quarry.

    This could go either way.

    Both men are problematic, and both men are beatable, at their respective levels.

    He was Bivins first pro fight on July 15, 1940. According to boxrec, Bivins beat him on points. You thought I meant Joe Frazier??

    Quarry without question. Bivins has always been a puzzle to me, largely because by the time he was caught on film in the late 1940s and early 1950s he looked unimpressive, but I have concluded the following. He tried to beef up in the years just after World War II, but his best years were as a middleweight and a light heavyweight prior to the end of the war. When he stepped up to fight top echelon heavyweights like Charles, Walcott, Maxim (who was then fighting as a heavyweight), etc, he usually came up short. Consequently, I conclude he never would have had much chance at any time during his career against a prime Quarry.

    I’ll go with Quarry for stylistic reasons. Bivins was a beast at light heavy though.

    Didn't he lose multiple times to most of those guys, also?

    All in all, I'll take a peak Quarry. But Bivins would certainly be a live underdog.
