I would not go overboard about Braddock. He was pretty limited ... he did possess the skills SQ mentioned and that is a decent formula for decisioning the older Foreman, maybe ...

 

But SuzieQ you forgot...fat old Foreman would destroy peak Frazier, Tyson & Dempsey in one night!

You know what, MAYBE, but then again maybe not. The Baer match up is similar, but not quite the same

 

Braddock had come a long way since Loughran, and he certainly held his own through the first four rounds with Louis. When he did retire, he said that the progression of arthritis had specifically hindered his ability to move backwards, indicating how important that was to his boxing.

At his very best, the Braddock who decisioned the 6'4" Lasky over the championship distance and upset Baer might well pull it off over Foreman. George was far more serious than Max, but also more tense and less experienced over longer distances. Neither did Foreman have the efficiency and precision of Louis. When Griffin floored Jimmy, Braddock was able to come back.

 

Braddock was 194Lbs. when he beat Max Baer in 1935. He only fought two more times before retiring in 1938. He was a former LHW and MW. He stood about 6'2 1/2" with a 75' reach but he wasn't exactly built like Holyfield. He would look like the much smaller man standing next to a late 30's/early 40's George Foreman (6'4" and 250+ Lbs.)

Braddock had a great chin but if anybody could stop Braddock cleanly it would be somebody like Louis (who did it in 1937, KO8) or Foreman. Braddock's only other stoppage loss was due to a cut (LTKO6 Lou Scozzo, he had been cut in his previous fight and it reopened).

Braddock was pretty hot form 1933-1935, he was pretty decent from his pro debut in 1926-1928 or so. From 1927-1932 he didn't look so great. he's hard to judge really. He looked good vs. Corn Griffin, Art Lasky, John Henry Lewis, Baer, and even Tommy Farr. He even gave Joe Louis a bit of a fit before being stopped in 8. What else is there?

Beat Foreman? Nah

Old George beat the crap out of Qawi, Cooney, Cooper, Rodrigues, Coetzer, and others. He gave a prime Holyfield a fit. He put Moorer down for the count when he was in very bad shape.

George is great, and he would have anally raped walcott, Marciano, Liston and Moore...... That's about it.......

 

Not saying anyone would "beat" marciano... Only saying that Foreman would have torn him a wider anus... Fair enough, don't you think???
