To be honest, I have absolutely no idea about this fight. What I did find interesting when looking up Carruthers is how history treats people differently. I have heard a lot about Vic Toweel over the years but almost nothing about Carruthers. Yet, in a somebody's Oh Must Go fight Carruthers took Toweel's 118 lb strap with a first round KO then kayoed him again in the rematch. Carruthers also ended up with more successful defenses. Why Toweel is more known now, I don't know, but thanks to this thread I certainly appreciate Jimmy Carruthers.
