Was reading about Jimmy Carter today and thought Id give this fight another look...not the whole thing just the last 3 or 4 rounds.

Carter gave him a little bit of a hiding...and it sounds like Percy was the clear favorite going into this one.

Anyone seen or know any detail about the return match they had a month later?

All I can find is that two judges had it 6-3-1 for Percy and the other had it 7-3 but nothing else.

Carter would go one to thrash Ike Williams in his next fight...so was wondering if he just didnt show up or possibly his Mob connections arranged ..the fight was in Bassett's hometown.

Interesting to note that Carter was the 3-1 underdog against Williams...don't know if the fact he was coming off a loss assisted in those widish odds.

Carter had the kind of a style where it was difficult to say whether he was losing a fight on purpose or not, as he was rather conservative most of the time and relied on quality over quantity. In his possibly arranged losses he simply didn't do much at all against men he had beaten or would go onto beat in rematches.
