I think Ellis was quicker, sharper and the harder puncher, but Norton was bigger and stronger. I think his greater body mass would have kept him from accepting a ko from Ellis, and he would have outstrengthed Ellis to take a comfortable 12 or 15 round decision over him.
"Ellis has a right hand that is capable of a knockout, he showed that against Oscar Bonavena, who Frazier couldn't deck in 25 rounds of fighting" Howard Cosell commenting during Frazier-Ellis. I wonder if Ellis could have landed a couple of powerful rights on Norton's suspect jaw. There is definately enough evidence to suggest Norton could have been in trouble early on. Kenny would be all over him at the end though, if he negotiated the early rounds.
Interesting fight ... I happen to think Norton was the better puncher, the bigger man and had the better jab ... I like Ken but it would be very interesting ...
