I pick Jimmy to do as well as Patterson did in a three fight series with Ingo. prime Ingo was always good enough to beat somebody like Ellis first time out of three. Ellis was a good heavyweight though. I’d back him against anyone Patterson beat.
Johansson could hurt anyone he could hit squarely, but Ellis was faster and a more versatile boxer. And Jimmy could hit hard enough to gain Ingo's respect. Patterson had fast hands, but Ellis used his feet to better advantage when it came to lateral and backward movement, and these skills would make him a better defender against Johansson than Patterson. He wouldn't be walking into Ingo's right like Floyd. I go with Ellis.
I’m actually leaning towards Johansson to pull off a knockout. That doesn’t mean Jimmy can’t win but still
Its 50/50 if Johansson lands that right its over, if Ellis outboxes him it's a late stoppage or decision win, Good matchup.
This seems to be the trending opinion and I agree: Ingo’s chances ride solely on landing the right hand, otherwise it’s ALL Jimmy. So, yeah, a trilogy might see one instance of Jimmy being Bingoed and started on a one way, yo-yo trip to a KO or stoppage. - particularly if Jimmy gets a bit too enthusiastic with his good work, forgetting the single shot power that always lays in wait - of course I’m analogising to the Shavers KO loss. Otherwise, Ellis safely outboxes Ingo and builds to sharp shooting Ingemar with his own right hand - no mean punch in itself - eventually stopping the Big Swede 2/3 of the way into a 15 rounder.
