Jimmy McLarnin v Vince Dundee

Vince Dundee was A Baltimore native who in 1933, after nearly 11 years in the ring defeated Lou Brouillard over 15 rounds to capture the middleweight title.

Dundee lost his claim to the crown when he was outpointed by Teddy Yarosz on September 11, 1934.

Dundee retired with a record of 118 wins (28 knockouts), 20 losses and 13 draws. He was a relatively light hitting MW with very good defense, excellent endurance and a very good chin as he was only stopped once in 151 pro fights.

This was a quality middleweight and good champion - but not an ATG.

Jimmy on the other hand is a legend. In 1996 Ring Magazine voted McLarnin as the fifth-greatest welterweight of all time - and as we have noticed lately WW is a talent PACKED division.

However Jimmiy is giving up by my estimation 2 inches in height about 3 in reach and about 13 lbs in prime weight against a competent champ in a higher weight class.

That is a lot!

And they have weight classes in boxing for very good reasons...
But I think quality, in this case stands a very good chance over mass. Vince isn't likely to get Jimmy out of there and will see the final bell himself.

I can see Vince using his superior defense to frustrate Jimmy and make him look bad and ineffective. However - I can also see Jimmy constantly pressing, hustling and outworking him - I think that might be the final piece of this puzzle for me!

I think Jimmy stands a very good chance here - I think he should be slightly favored!
