This content is protected Rounds 1 & 2 were fast and I gave a slight edge to McLarnin in both. Round 3 was very eventful. The beginning of the end came when McLarnin lunged in on Singer w/ a left jab. As soon as he was up, McLarnin was in for the finish, and although Singer fought back, took quite a flurry from McLarnin, a right hook finally dropping Singer a second time. Singer stays down on his stomach, holding the back of his neck w/ both hands. But he does get up (all the while McLarnin is in his corner doing a victory somersault). McLarnin floored him for a third time w/ a left hook, then a straight right hand, then another left hook. Apparently Singer had some kind of problem w/ his neck? Which seemed unrelated to the match judging by the first and second knockdowns. Singer is counted out. Verdict: Here, I have to be objective. I will say that I am tempted to write this one off as worthless video, and although I still think we could all do without it, it's just that it lacks appeal to me, personally. If I'm going to be objective about it, and I am, I have to say that it was a pretty exciting slugging contest for the total three rounds.
I don’t understand, William. First the Chocolate/Battalino footage and now this one. How are they useless? I think a lot of people are glad this stuff is out there. Myself included, especially with this one. Any McLarnin footage is welcome by me.
Well, maybe it's a poor choice in adjectives, it's just that I don't see that there's much value in say, this fight. It's not a brawl that experiences many ebbs and flows, and it's not an above-average knockout either imo. As for performance value, it's only the 2nd McLarnin fight I've seen, so it's a little early to say on that matter. Like I said, in all honesty I had to say it was a good fight, for those besides myself.
Singer looked the more solid boxer. McLarnin seems wide open to me, but he was obviously successful and didn't seem to take a lot of punches, so looks could be deceiving in his case. My reaction is ordinary performances until the punch which caused some sort of neck injury. I got a kick out of McLarnin doing a victory flip and then going right back to boxing. Thanks for posting this one. Whatever I think McLarnin looks like, he had a very impressive record of beating top men, I think 13 consensus champions and 1 other title claimant.
The somersault was my favorite part of the whole video actually. Np, I certainly agree. I am really looking forward to watching the great Ross trilogy.
McLarnin fought that fight like he was completely unconcerned about what Singer could throw at him and was looking to go home early throwing power shots. Fascinating to watch his style really, carrying that left hand so low and springing up with left hooks. I love watching these videos, thanks for posting
I said for this one and maybe one or two others, that I thought others would find this fight exciting, but that it didn't appeal to me.
