The greatest fly. Maybe the most dominant fighter in his own weight class, of any. Why doesn't he get more love? I have him at number 14 atg p4p. Why don't you?
I don't think he's #1 at fly, personally. I don't see that as a lock at all. I do think he got a bit spooky with some of the stuff he did at bantamweight and fighting a world class feather is a ****ing crazy thing to do.
I've read a lot of your articles. You're a man with more knowledge about the lower weights than most. Who's above him at fly, McGrain?
Ok and curious... So how great and how high do you have Frankie Genaro? He got the best of pancho villa but has some losses ..... and yes good spot for Wilde imo
Cheers. Aye maybe nobody locked. I don't think Wilde is a bad choice for the #1 spot at all. But he's not mine. I'm not expert in fly, i'm looking now, but my pick early doors is Canto. Thirteen or fourteen title fight victories in a row. Some really, really good fighters. Most of all in a fully developed division. The division was kind of freaky deaky when Wilde was in it I think, a little all over. That might be part of the reason he did so much damage at bantam. That division already had a sense of itself by then. He was all over it, though a little lucky. Some of that luck, it depends how you feel about it. His best wins at bantamweight were questionable. My own personal reading of them is that they were nip and tuck fights that would have gone against him in the US but went for him in the UK, and that that's fair enough, probably. But if you feel the other way about them, probably hurts his standing a bit. I definitely don't think teens for his ranking is the worst thing I ever heard.
Used to weigh in fully dressed (in a suit), looks pretty good in the footage I've seen. I was thinking of making a tribute to him, but I don't really have enough to work with.
