Yawn. Your desperation to try and win a petty argument has again led you into an argument you cannot win.

    To this post, I repeat:

    Yet again you have failed.

Robinson is generally accepted to be the Greatest of All-Time (cue infantile denial by BFN1 :-().

So an attempt to use stats to prove that Wilde is better is a transparent attempt to say that Wilde is in fact the Greatest of All-Time.

I disproved this by using stats in the same fashion.

    I repeat: Game Over.

    :hi:

Statistics only tell part of the story... Robinson was still the best fighter that ever lived.

    Thats my comment :thumbsup

I have been read a good bit on Wilde lately, and I have to admit I don't know enough about old timer boxing to be a part of you gentleman's discussion here. I just wanted to say that I've read more than once that Wilde should be regarded as the #1 p4p hardest puncher ever. This caught me by surprise, cause you never see him mentioned in all time punchers threads.

I am a big Haye fan mate, you must be thinking of the wrong man. It's his bravery I love more than his boxing ability, I get the impression he would fight ****ing anyone!

I'm through. You obviously have your head wedged firmly up your ass and see what you want to see.

No-one is saying Wilde is a better fighter. Record for Record. Statistical percentages is the argument here. Win% Ko%, thats it.

Thats what gets me about you keyboard warriors, thick as pig****, see what you want to see, ain't that right Pacfan?

You're arguing a different argument to everyone else and you're either too blind or too stupid to see it.

Or maybe you were educated in the dumb**** area of Glasgow unlike myself.

    You bore me. :hi:

Pipe , Don't confuse hardest P4P hardest puncher with P4P best ATG , Jimmy was a wee fella who often went to the weigh in in Minnestota ( first time he fought in the states if i remember correctly ) with rocks in his pockets just to get within 10lbs of his opponents weight ( it was the rules those days apparently ) Also ref your limited knowledge of Wilde, Dont worry about that but i will suggest you read " Fighting was my Buisness" by Wilde if you are to futher your education on him , you won't belive half the stuff he done .lol fantastic fella imo . Good luck .

The Mighty Atom is often accepted as the 'greatest ever P4P puncher', Ring magazine in 2003 had Jimmy Wilde as their #3 on their greatest punchers of all time list.

Actually. Original poster has 2 criteria.
    Win%
    KO%

So you're only half right. :D

But still. This isn't about Tunney's record is it now?

So you accept you were wrong in your last post accusing me of focusing on resume not record. Good boy. :good

And no, but I am fully right again. KO percentage does not factor into 'record', that's only a bit of additional info, the title of the thread is 'record', so as usual I am quite correct. Tunney's actual record is better even if his KO ratio is not, irrespective of the TS's criteria. The title of the thread is record only, and I referred to record only. :good

The thread is about Wilde having a better record than Robinson, and I said Tunney's was even better than Wilde's. I don't see what is so offensive to you about that?? What is it that you find it hard to understand/accept here wee fella? Did the TS beg us all not to mention any other fighters on this thread??

It didn't hurt having Jim "Gem to the yanks" Driscoll as his second either when it came to advice , Jimmy is on record as saying it was Driscoll's boxing knowledge an input that proved crucial a few times when things weren't going to plan .

Yes sir, I didn't confuse the difference, probably should have made my point more clear. I in no way meant to sound confused between hardest puncher and ATG, just wanted to throw in the only 2 cents I had read about him, that you generally don't see talked about here.

I am interested in learning more about him, so thank you for the recommendation, sir. Sorry to have not been more clear with why I just popped in to say he reportedly punched hard as hell.
