Can Lopez manage Wilde's power and rougher stuff to land enough of his own shots? Would Wilde get stung by Lopez's masterful counters? We've got decent enough footage of Wilde, especially considering the era. Thoughts?
Lopez would have a huge size advantage. He's 4 inches taller, probably 10 pounds heavier. Which wouldn't matter except that Lopez only real weakness was on the inside where he was average. I think he jabs his way to a decision win.
Lopez would have a few inches in height (5-5 to 5-2) but Wilde not only had a longer reach but was used to fighting guys larger... Both could weigh in at 105.
Wow, this would be a good one. Wilde is a bit faster with his hands and feet, Lopez a true technician with patience and power. Big punchers as both men were at 105 pounds are pretty rare. Pick 'em 50/50
I'll go for Wilde, prime-for-prime. He beat better fighters than Lopez in real terms. He was spooky as ****, in fact.
I've seen a fair bit of Lopez and a few bits of wilde and read a bit about him, based on that I go with wilde in a tough scrap. Late rounds ko.
You know I forgot how good Wilde was before I went over his record again. I think if they weighed in 105 same day I would take Wilde. But Lopez is rough to pick against he's so tall and correct. But he's not bigger than Memphis Moore so I'm not sure even with an extra 24 hours to rehydrate he would win.
Wilde by KO. I'd go as far to say he's as good, or maybe even superior, as a technician. His sense of distance was second to none.
