Jimmy Young, 1977 vs Thad Spencer, 1967. The Jimmy Young that defeated George Foreman vs the Thad Spencer who decked Ernie Terrell, in winning a 12 round decision in the WBA Heavyweight Tournament. Could Jimmy outbox Spencer? or would Thad kayo Young?
This is a good original fantasy fight Richard. Both were actually very similar imo, but Young would be too fast for Spencer. Since Spencer decked Terrell early vs. Young only decking Foreman very late in hot conditions, I will go with Thad having an edge in power. Young SD.
Jimmy Young has become a bit of a master of fantasy fights lately. From 75 to 77 he was world class. Holding his own against the likes of Lyle, Shavers, Ali, Foreman and Norton. Although only beating 2 of those on the cards. I mean I have no issue in saying I'm incredibly biased against Young. His style is awful, like Kid Galahad, and Richard Abril. I can't stand fighters who are overtly negative. I really doubt I'd personally be scoring the fight in favour of Young. I still hate the 45 minutes of my life he wasted when I tried scoring Ali vs Young a few years ago. I'll never get that time back. Never. Spencer SD
You're predisposed to be antagonistic to Young in the first place...you just said so. I wouldn't want you refereeing A Young fight hypothetically.
Thad Spencer beats Jimmy Young by DQ after Young states his game plan is to run and hold all night throwing minimum punches.
I was gonna start a thread on what boxers people dislike, but I fear it would have ended up becoming quite nationalistic, even if veiled. Who do you dislike boxing wise? Must be someone.
no Luf, u never got that time back, but it was the best 45 minutes u ever spent! You just don't know it!
