A lot of us have discussed Jimmy on here lately. Any recommended biographies on him ? Indeed, have there been any at all ?
" Through The Ropes" Is acccurate." " The Nearly Man " Is ok. " Squandered Chances " Is the best. :good
Gregory Simms, former writer for Jet Magazine has alot of information on Jimmy. From his amateur days and Philly gym history. Also, Richie Kates, Philly Light Heavyweight must know a bunch of info.
there was one i know of...i remember because as a kid i used to check it out in my library pretty frequently...it captured his life up to ocasio fights
There was a kid's sports hero bio type book written about Jimmy Young in the late 1970's. I checked it out of my local library in Ferndale, CA. The cover was a photo of Jimmy in the Foreman fight. I don't remember if it was published prior to the Norton fight or not. Patscorpio, was the book you checked out along the lines of a kid's picture book?
Jimmy Young: Heavyweight Challenger by Edward F. Dolan jr. and Richard B. Lyttle published in 1979. I bought my copy off of ebay, its an ex library book from the Anaheim, Ca. library.
