Always thought Young won that fight. And had he received the verdict his ranking all time skyrockets.

My pleasure Robert,...ironically, I stumbled across it right after our posts about Young earlier this afternoon.

How do you win a fight where you keep ducking your head outside the ropes? It was embarrassing

Thought he made Ali look awful, who showed up in bad shape, for most of the fight. If the ref didn’t DQ Young for his antics I see no reason to take away from the rounds he won. I’ve watched that fight many times and always end up having Young up by 2 rounds.

Jimmy Young & Yaqui Lopez...two very good fighters right there on the "cusp".
A break here & there they could have been champs at least for a little while.

Sounds like he wound up a little like quarry, but not quite as bad. Always sad to hear about guy winding up that way.

Yeah, as much as I feel for the guy just having read that article, I don't share the perception that he beat Ali.

Well Ali's my all time hero, but I thought Jimmy Young won that fight.

It hurts even more with Jimmy because he was beaten by the judges, whereas with the possible exception of one of the Galindez fights, Yaqui's opponents were the ones who beat him.

He did more than just stick his head outside the ropes Suzie...you had your rose colored Ali glasses on when you watched the fight, otherwise you would have known that.

Great article very sad how he ended up. Great boxer in his prime had some very good wins

Would have loved to see him fight Holmes in 77
