Prime for prime, these two would have had a series of fights. a lot of people would say that Evander would beat Jimmy convincingly, but I disagree. Both could take the other on a given night. Would go the distance each time.

very tactical fight. Young's defense and slickness would make it close, and his ability to take a shot.

holy wouldn't show young's power any respect and likely charge in. he has a risk of being countered, though. young has stunned guys like dokes, faded Ali, foreman, and Lyle, so maybe he could stun a prime Holyfield off a right lead counter

I don't think there's any stoppage here. they're both too durable.

I'd pick holy by split decision in the first match. the second match is a draw

I'd pick Evander ten times out of ten times and bet my house on it every time as well as the lives of my vChildren who are supported by my vCash because Jimmy Young is ridiculously overrated and never gutted it out when glory was on the line and Evander is known for doing just that and is an ATG. In closing, Jimmy Young is extremely and excruciatingly overrated and doesn't deserve anymore H2H threads unless he's in with guys on the level of a Jesse Ferguson (don't get mad, I mean a PRIME Ferguson).

Vandy much too busy for Jimmy Young (see Ossie Ocassio).

Jimmy didn't like busy guys, as he feasted on slow-moving plodders.

    Vandy by 15-Round solid decision,,,9-5-1

come on B. you're the one UNDERRATING him.

I suppose he never gutted it out against Bailey, Foreman, Lyle, or Shavers?
    Do your research you hater

he would absolutely beat any version of Furgeson on points

The facts are, I do think Holyfield takes it, but he takes it on decision. not stoppage.

    1. Who cares if it's by decision or stoppage? A speed bag would lose by decision but still lose every time.

    2. Yeah, he really gutted it out against Foreman desiccate, non-great Lyle and non-great Shavers...wait...Shavers, Shavers...didn't something fun happen in one of those fights with Shavers...Oh, yeah! :rofl:rofl:rofl Never mind, I won't mention it though. Oh, and how about how he gutted it out with Zombie Ali? That was inspirational. The part of Young's career sandwiched in between pathetic losses where he was so-so against decent guys should really afford him a wealth of respect in these H2H threads, you're right. He definitely takes Evander close and it goes down to the wire.

Young was no speedbag. Young would counter Holy and make it a tactical fight

Yep. He got KO'd against Shavers in the 1st match when he was green and just looking for a paycheck. the second time Young won. :yep

Because he didn't jump on Ali, you're going to ***** about it? be realistic for once and not grab Valuev's nuts. Young outboxed Ali.

It should earn him respect, because in his PRIME he managed to take on Shavers, Lyle, Foreman, Ali, Norton, and win them all. Out of his prime, holy had embarrassing losses to, to guys like Ruiz and Toney. Out of his prime when Young was depressed he wasn't looking for more then a paycheck.

    :deal

Jimmy Young, a good-fighter in his day, and an over-achiever, because he was
not considered anything more than a cute Philly gym-fighter.

At 6' 2" 208 lbs. he needed to be facing the correct opponent to look good.

He wasn't busy in the rematch at all and was fighting like he already won the fight. The rematch was just an awful fight where neither guy really wanted to dictate the fight. Ocassio had his moments when he would think offensively but he did that so little. It could've been a draw imo.
