Bump. Young has the perfect style to beat him, good jab, boxing ability and was awkward, if Quarry couldn’t outbox you, he didn’t have much of a chance, he couldn’t apply effective pressure, close the ring off or lead off sophisticatedly, he’d lunge with the left hook square on and become predictable, and with Young being awkward and having many tricks, that’d make Quarry become more sloppy, he thrived when guys would go at him, sluggers who couldn’t outbox him who had to look for one punch, who would give him counterpunching opportunities. I see no case to be made for Quarry here.
I lean to favor Quarry in a very competitive fight. Jimmy is slick, but I doubt he can outbox Quarry the whole fight. Eventually Quarry takes him into the trenches and Jimmy simply lacks the firepower and endurance to prevail. Quarry wins; probably by late stoppage.
It really depends on how well Quarry uses his underrated versatility. Most likely he picks the wrong stratagems, trying to outslick the slickster. Part of his charm.
