Who wins this matchup? Probably not the fans, although it would be interesting from a technical perspective.
I think both fighters were talented who have a place in heavyweight history but I can't imagine a better remedy for insomnia.
Depends on who’s judging and whether or not they like Young’s elusive style. Can’t see a stoppage happening either way unless it’s a cut or injury
The round count makes a difference. Guys like Jimmy Young would have been much harder to beat as champion with the 15 rounds. 10 rounds its hard for even the best point fighter to beat elite competition consistantly. But Jimmy Young should beat Ellis most times. He is a better fighter.
Best of Ellis takes it for me. Educated aggression to take rounds. Work from behind than angled stance and a jab. Judges would likely favor him more than the negative Young, though with Jimmy being a naturally larger and equally crafty fighter you never know.
I don't think Young was exactly at his peak thirteen years into his career. He was a stepping stone at that point.
I think Ellis basically outworks Young but he won’t look great in doing so. Judges would have to be replaced every 4 rounds - that being the max. duration possible before any of them fall asleep.
