The big question here is could Ruiz continue to be effective after Norman Stone has a stroke in between the 18th and 19th rounds?

No, the big question is how many spectators shoot themselves, after Bat Masterson and Wyatt Earp tell them at the entrance to the stadium, "Keep your guns fellers. You may wanna use 'em on yourselves before this one's over!" [Forget about shootin' the participants. They're already dead!]

The audience makes the unanimous decision to burn the stadium down with themselves inside it.

Young would get a TKO over that fraudulent cheater Ruiz eventually. It's not like Jimmy couldn't knock anyone out, it's that he didn't KO many people.

And it's not like Ruiz had the greatest set of whiskers - which is one main reason why he held on for dear life if he fought anybody decent (the other being he didn't have the talent or ability to beat these fighters at boxing, within the rules).

Okay, that's fine if the stadium's made of wood, but what about concrete and steel, with no balcony to jump off of, or hang oneself from?

My sister's a big fan of "The Walking Dead" on AMC, and she thinks Ruiz-Young IV might provide fodder for a three part episode. [In fact, she thinks an entire season could be comprised of such a rivalry.]

This actually could work as a series finale, attracting all the zombies into the stadium to watch as a trap, locking the gates behind them so they can't get out, then insanely start to devour each other as round two gets underway.

Actually, I believe this would an extremely viscous war. I'm not sure there could be a hypothetical pairing with a greater potential for high viscosity. These are two of the most viscous heavyweights who ever lived.

Hey NoNeck! I don't understand your question. Why would Young-Ruiz ONLY end in a stoppage?
I see Ruiz reaching for the big shot the entire scrap only to come up short. I don't understand why so many place Ruiz among the 'heavy outs'?
RJJ and his handlers obviously saw Ruiz as the shortest distance to a HW "title". Jimmy was certainly not a KO puncher but as my late friend Mike used to say: "He wasn't a KO puncher but he hit hard enough to keep the big boys off of him!"

It;s a fight to the finish, as established in the original post.

“Finish” could also be interpreted as the point in time you decide to change the channel or switch the TV off altogether….finito

…..you could then tally your scorecards up to that point in time to decide the “winner”….

…..but the real “winner” will ultimately be you…having finally been able to pull yourself away from such riveting viewing.

You also might save your TV’s pixels from being indelibly impressed upon by the two inanimate subjects in the ring - the “ghosts” of Young and Ruiz burned into your television screen and haunting you forevermore.

Meditating on the outcome of this bout is what drove @cross_trainer into a death like coma. Logic couldn’t meet conclusion so it will never finish and the clinch on his consciousness will never be broken - RIP comrade.

Fight to the finish? Young clinches and tickles Ruiz so hard he fell off the ring and thus, won a TKO.

I don't truly believe this... Young had a good win over a dangerous Foreman and such,no way...
