The Sun’s death is an inevitable process that will unfold over billions of years, driven by the physics of stellar evolution. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the stages:

    1. Main Sequence Phase (Present Day)

    • The Sun is currently in the main sequence phase, where it fuses hydrogen into helium in its core through nuclear fusion.

    • This stage began about 4.6 billion years ago and will last for about 10 billion years in total.

    • As hydrogen in the core is consumed, the Sun slowly grows brighter due to increased energy output from the fusion process.

    2. Subgiant Phase (About 5 Billion Years From Now)

    • The Sun will exhaust the hydrogen in its core. Without sufficient fusion to counteract gravity, the core will contract.

    • This contraction heats the core, causing the outer layers to expand slightly. The Sun will enter the subgiant phase, beginning its transition to a red giant.

    3. Red Giant Phase (Approximately 7 Billion Years From Now)

    • The Sun’s core will continue to contract and heat until it is hot enough to fuse helium into heavier elements like carbon and oxygen.

    • Meanwhile, the outer layers will expand drastically, engulfing the inner planets, possibly including Earth. The Sun will swell to about 200 times its current size, becoming a red giant.

    • During this phase, the Sun’s surface temperature will drop, giving it a reddish appearance.

    Impact on Earth:

    • Long before the Sun becomes a red giant, the increasing luminosity will render Earth uninhabitable as temperatures rise and oceans evaporate (about 1 billion years from now).

    • By the red giant phase, Earth, if not already consumed, will be a scorched, lifeless rock.

    4. Helium Flash and Core Fusion (Short Period)

    • In the red giant stage, the core reaches temperatures sufficient to ignite helium fusion in what is called the helium flash.

    • Helium fusion will continue for a relatively short time (a few hundred million years), producing carbon and oxygen in the core.

    • Eventually, helium runs out, and the core collapses again, leading to instability.

    5. Planetary Nebula Phase (Around 7.5 Billion Years From Now)

    • The Sun will shed its outer layers in a series of violent pulses, creating a glowing shell of ionized gas known as a planetary nebula.

    • The expelled material will enrich the interstellar medium with elements like carbon and oxygen, which could eventually form new stars or planets.

    6. White Dwarf Phase (About 8 Billion Years From Now)

    • After losing its outer layers, the Sun’s core will remain as a white dwarf, a dense, Earth-sized remnant composed primarily of carbon and oxygen.

    • A white dwarf no longer undergoes fusion but glows faintly due to residual heat. Over billions of years, it will gradually cool and fade.

    7. Black Dwarf (Theoretical, Tens of Billions of Years)

    • After trillions of years, the white dwarf will cool to the point where it no longer emits significant heat or light, becoming a black dwarf—a cold, dark stellar remnant.

    • However, the universe is not yet old enough for black dwarfs to exist, so this stage remains theoretical.

    Summary of Timeframe:

    1. Current main sequence: Ends in ~5 billion years.

    2. Red giant phase: Peaks in ~7 billion years.

    3. Planetary nebula and white dwarf: Forms in ~8 billion years.

    4. Black dwarf: Takes trillions of years.

The Sun’s death, while destructive locally, contributes essential elements to the universe, playing a critical role in the cosmic cycle of life and death.

Ruiz brought a championship swagger into the ring. You are born with that. Can not be taught

The Spaniards didn’t come up with torments and tortures this bad during the Inquisition.

And yet a Young vs Ruiz fight to the finish will last longer.

You people are all sick, reviving this thread! What could possibly make you even think of doing such a dastardly and despicable thing?

Speaking of which, who would you favor to win Ruiz-Young IV to a finish after first seeing Ruiz-Young I, II & III from ringside? All this of course while being restrained to your chair with eyes clamped open...:

"Stop it? Stop it, did you say? Why, we've hardly started!"

Waddya think, @BE ? Does Cross deserve to undergo Clockwork Orange's Ludovico Technique for creating this inhumane monstrosity? Shall he be condemned to HELL???

Very true. If this one is indeed held in a barn, the spectators would definitely burn it down, along with themselves and the "participants' in the ring...

Jimmy would've stopped George in San Juan if that one had been scheduled for the Championship Distance. Foreman would've shoved Ruiz all over the place.

The Young/Ruiz I through IV quadrilogy is best watched in a single marathon throughout the holidays. (All of the holidays)
