Following up on the Young thread I made yesterday...Holmes was the only big name in the late 70s that he didn't fight.

So let's assume Jimmy gets the decision against Norton and fights Larry for the title in 78. Larry was somewhat green at the time and had never went 15 rounds. (and 12 rounds only once) How does this play out?

Holmes wins but looks unimpressive in the process. Jimmy wouldn't pressure Larry as Norton and Weaver did... Jimmy rarely pressured anybody.

Yes. It would n't have been as good a fight to watch as Holmes' one with Norton. Neither man's fault . Just a case of styles.

    Holmes by decision.

He would jab and move and throw some good rights. Jimmy would be forced to come forward at times and wouldn't be too busy or land consistently.

Holmes pretty much better in every way in this match up .. better , faster jab, faster overall , bigger, ect .. Larry by decision ..
