Does Young school him or does the tough, durable Weaver get to him late?

I think Weaver is a perfect opponent for Young. Decision win for Jimmy in an uninspiring affair.

What do you really expect here? Young totally outboxes and outclasses a game Weaver...frustrating him all night long without breaking a sweat.

Jimmy beats mike every time. I think you'd have to be very busy to beat young,

I tend to agree. Mike was so frustrating to watch sometimes. Now & then he appeared so disinterested, so lazy.
His punch output was never high and he was getting his socks boxed off by Tate before rescuing that fight very very late.
I don't know if he would be able to pull another rabbit out of the hat versus Young.

All the above. Jimmy Young every time against the slow starting Weaver.

I'd be hesitant to have picked a top form Weaver of say 82 to the 1982 version of Jimmy. Mike could lose to that guy if Jimmy did his rise to the occasion thing. Weaver of the Tillis bout could be beat via decision.

If they'd met in 76 or 77 when Mike was a regional fighter losing to the Bobick's and Jimmy was top form, it's a horrible mismatch.

I could see the 80/81 Weaver eking out a close one over Young, any other version, Jimmy schools Mike.

you'd have to be Joe Frazier...nothing short of a high volume swarmer type....then Jimmy would only lose on points because he had one hell of a chin.

No way any version of Weaver would beat Young...he was never busy enough, and he sure as hell isn't catching Jimmy with anything. It would be a very frustrating evening for Hercules.

I couldn't see the comebacking version of Jimmy Young, from 1981, doing anything to Mike Weaver.

Young would pitched a master class exhibition against Weaver...forget the faded, past it version of Young...that version, by the way would have beaten Weaver as well, at similar stages of their careers.
