Liston, like Foreman, didn't like slippery mother****ers' in the ring... Jimmy Young was a slippery mother****er who had skill and finess, but little power...

Its possible Young could outbox Liston over 10, 12 or 15 rounds, but only if Young was finely tuned at about 209 to 211 pounds and focused... Otherwise, Liston gets to Young late and takes him out...

For the record, I never cared for Jimmy Young... His style yawned me to sleep...

I don't know Mr Bill, the Young that was leaning out of the ring to escape an out of shape Ali's punches would have a beating handed to him. I just don't think Young's skills were suited for Listons ramrod jab and in close hammering abilities. Sonny before the tenth.

Liston was a far better fighter than a Lyle ... Sonny would win a boring decision ...

I still say "Liston-Machen" from '60 was a stinky borefest... Why ESPN loves to replay that bout late at night I'll never know... Yeah, Ol' Sonny got the nod over Eddie Machen in that 10 rounder, but nothing exciting really occurred...

Could Young have fared better in a time machine?

Yes, lets go the clichéd route and cite a single example from a single fight in the mans career where he clowned Ali.:lol:

anyone who questions young punching power can just look at young-foreman. he was one of the three men to drop and humiliate foreman. that overhand right was beautiful, potent, and perfectly timed.. he would have finishe him off with a JAB if it wasn't the final round.

I have "Ali-Young" on tape......... I still gave Ali the nod by a **** hair in a borefest... Young showed no aggression or real desire to take the title... The fight sucked, but Ali won...

Young was a sneaky puncher as opposed to a hard hitter, obviously. But that matters little as its the sneaky punches that are the most dangerous. Ask Oscar Bonavena, some of the only men to ever drop him were Jimmy Ellis, whom dropped him twice with sneak shots. Zora Folley did it as well.

Yeah, he still popped Ali's eardrum and feinted him into knots the entire fight. Terrible showing. :-(

The knockdown of Foreman in round 12 by Young was a combination of Foreman once again being tired and also off-balance... The knockdown was not clean at all...

The only dude to ever "Force" Foreman to the floor was Lyle in 1976......

no way did Ali win that , most of ali's punches were being dodged beautifully by Jimmy young, and young had Ali hurt with a body shot at one point.
it depends on how you score it I guess.
youngs negative style won it IMO. those body shots beat the hit out of Ali. young raised his hands in victory while Ali just laid on the ropes, tired.
    the crowd knew who won.

please. foreman was ROCKED. that overhand right was perfectly timed.
I don't buy this tired bull****. George always has some stupid exscuse for getting knocked down. it was from a punch, period. and a beautiful one. that right hand would have knocked out anybody if young landed it correctly.
