thanks for making me laugh this morning tommy. I always loved Young but a big puncher he was not. Tho I did always tell people that Young did hit hard enough to keep the big power boys off of him; if not they would've just walked right thru him.
Wait a minute ... my previous post compared Young to Wlad not Vitali ... Vitali definately has a rock chin ... Young is still the better man on defense , speed and movement ... Head to head Vitali wins a decision over Young ...
yeah. his punching power leaves me in awe as well. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QflZUi7kxDE&feature=youtube_gdata[/ame] now tell me he doesn't have a punch. ABC edited the sound made when the punch connected. luckily i have the knockdown UNEDITED. you can also see the whole stadium vibrate from the impact. Young KO 10 a gased liston
Young was more a spoiler than a mover. Young wasn't nearly as fast as a 64 Clay and not as fast as Machen either. Liston takes it.
Young punched like a little *****... Foreman went down in round 12 down in Rico from exhaustion, high humidity, off-balance and Young's right paw.... That droppage of Foreman was NOT clean.... That was shaky and sketchy.... BUT! It was ruled a knockdown.... I have the fight on tape...... MR.BILL
Well, put ballistics like that together with his renowned killer finishing instinct and there's no way Liston sees the final bell. Ooo, can we dehydrate Liston severely too? It might produce a highlight reel KO!
He was n't even as fast as a '74 Ali,truth be told. He never needed to be though Jimmy was a classy fighter in his own right. As I've always said,Young would have given a prime Liston a lot of problems, but Liston would have won over the distance.
