Jimmy Young vs. Tim Witherspoon

OOO......Witherspoob and young both rate in my top 35. Both at there best, I like Spoon by razor thin decision in thise one because he was the harder puncher and more aggresive fighter.

 

Witherspoon had his trademark looping overhand right hand. He hurt a lot a men with that.

 

Tim got a lot stronger later in his career. If you watched his Tuesday night fights against Anders Ecklund and Jeff Simms, O'Grady and Alpert were actually pretty surprised at how hard he was whacking.

 

I'd pick Young by close decision. He is very skilled and hard to catch.

Whitherspoon at his (Holmes/Bruno) best would have far too much for Young to deal with. Jimmy may be able to fustrate Terrible Tim to a point, and make it to the final bell, but Whitherspoon gains the easy decision.

Witherspoon had a powerfull right hand. I think Witherpsoon beat Young, because he is more agressive and hits harder. One under rated thing about Witherpoon is his defense and ability to counter.

 

Witherspoon prime would beat Young Prime, though Young would make it a fight.
